Creative Director
What is it you love about this industry?
I love doing hair it's great to be able to make people feel good about themselves. This industry is very artsy and creative which keeps me from getting bored. Style is always changing which means I my continual education is key to keeping with up all the new technique's and trends. This is really my passion, it is just brilliant.
What was the reason you started doing hair?
Let me take you back in time! I was born and raised in Ireland, I have always been interested in hair and fashion, Dublin city is a great place for that. In Dublin I did a four year apprenticeship at the David Marshall Hair Academy which was the first academy to teach Vidal Sassoon in Ireland. David's academy was very precise and strict but what can I say it paid off. I continued to work at his hair salon for 4 years before I came to America.
Words that describe your personal style:
I like a little bit of everything, classic, casual and trendy.
What is your source of inspiration?
One of my close friends who owns her own trendy salon in Dublin keeps informed on the latest European hair styles and trends, what are friends for?
How do you keep motivated in current hair trends?
Well lets see, when I attend advanced cutting and coloring classes I get pump up, there is no stopping me! Keeping myself well educated works well for me.
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
Hopefully still taking trips back to Ireland every year, maybe owning a salon who knows. I still will be pushing myself to be the very best hairstylist I can be.
Best hairstyle:
I really don't have a favorite hair style, I love doing all kinds of hair cuts it makes my job more interesting. The harder the challenge the more determined I become. Hair cutting and coloring are what I really specialize in, after doing a great hair cut there is nothing like adding a great vibrant color or highlight. It just polishes the whole look off. I love doing color corrections, they may take a good few hours but the results are worth the hard work!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Well I say I would like to relax but I never do! I enjoy hiking, tennis, and a day at the beach with family and friends. I also enjoy watching my kids sporting events whenever possible, family and friends are extremely important to me. And of course how can you go wrong with a good old Irish beer on a hot summers day! |
